The CDSP's activities include:

• Data acquisition

The CDSP continuously adds to its catalogue of survey data by encouraging contributions from the academic community while respecting the wishes of contributors in terms of dissemination.

• Archiving and dissemination of data

Survey data is disseminated to students and French and foreign researchers who sign an undertaking concerning use of the data. This data is documented in accordance with the international standards of the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI).

With its Nesstar software, the CDSP offers an online statistics processing service which enables analysis of survey data.

• Support for data production

The CDSP participates in conducting the European Social Survey (ESS). It has also built up databases at the request of different research teams (database on Indian political figures, database on European decisions...).

• Constitution of an electoral database

This database includes the results of all types of election in France, which can be accessed at various territorial levels to enable comparisons over time and space. An interactive mapping tool is currently being developed.

• Teaching and support for research

The CDSP participates in the teaching of methods in political science and sociology doctoral programs in Sciences Po and in coordinating this teaching in the framework of the advanced social sciences methods track (PaMSS). It is also involved in organization of seminars in the Data Infrastructures Methods (DIM) cycle of Sciences Po, which aims to develop mastery of quantative and qualitative methods in the social sciences. It also makes available to students and researchers a tool for carrying out web-based surveys.
