Working with variable collections

Step 1

Click on the link to create a new variable collection.

Step 2

Give the collection a unique name.

Step 3

Add any desired variables. There are two ways of accomplishing this. You may choose from any of the already downloaded variables from the tree by clicking on the plus icon. The other way is by selecting the variables with the select box interface. This works the same as when individually choosing variables on the main interface. If necessary, variables can be removed from the list with the minus icon.

Step 4

Arrange the variables to have the desired order. Their order determines the order of appearance in a table visualization. Also note that the first variable will be the independant variable which is plotted along the x-axis for scatter plot visualizations, while the rest will be dependant variables plotted on the y-axis. Click save in order to create the collection.

Step 5

Now that we have created a collection of variables, we probably want to visualize them. Currently there are 3 choices available: table, scatter chart, and bar chart.
